Rock in Rio e o fenômeno do “Nera de Rock, nera?”

Na década atual, um fenômeno vem ocorrendo periodicamente a cada dois anos, especialmente no mês de Setembro. Esse fenômeno ocorre como sendo um efeito colateral da realização do festival Rock in Rio. É o fenômeno do “mas o Rock in Rio num é um festival do rock?” Mesmo esta sendo a quarta edição seguida à acontecer de forma periódica, desde que o festival voltou para a sua casa, parece que muita gente ainda não entendeu o óbvio: não, o Rock in Rio não é um festival de Rock!

Realizado pela primeira vez em Janeiro de 1985, o Rock in Rio surge num contexto bem interessante. A luta pela redemocratização do país vinha ganhando cada vez mais força, uma crise econômica complicada e uma eferverscência no campo artístico, em especial no campo da música. Especificamente no âmbito musical a década de 80 ficou conhecida como a década do Rock no Brasil, tendo em vista não só o surgimento de diversas bandas, como também a abertura dos meios de comunicação para esse tipo de música. Considerando a força que o estilo vinha ganhando no Brasil, nada mais interessante, até mesmo do ponto de vista do marketing, do que batizar um festival de Rock in Rio.

 

É claro que num primeiro momento, o nome do festival nos remete à um festival de Rock, mas basta olhar para o line up da primeira edição e ficará bem evidente que o Rock in Rio jamais foi um festival exclusivamente de rock. Ao lado de Queen, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Scorpions e Ozzy Osbourne, tivemos George Benson, James Taylor e Rod Stewart. Se tivemos Barão Vermelho e Paralamas do Sucesso, também tivemos Elba Ramalho, Alceu Valença (já na sua fase não-psicodélica) e Morais Moreira transformando a Cidade do Rock num grande Carnaval. Ou seja, desde sempre, o “Rock” dividiu o espaço com o “in Rio”.

Conforme os anos foram passando, a fórmula foi se repetindo e gerando reações nada interessantes, por parte do público de um festival que sempre teve como slogan “Por um Mundo Melhor”. Se em 1985, sobrou pro Kid Abelha, sendo defendido por Herbert Vianna dizendo para o público ficar em casa aprendendo a tocar guitarra em vez de jogar pedras, em 1991 foi Lobão quem sofreu ao ser escalado ao lado de Judas Priest e Megadeth. Carlinhos Brown, em 2001, foi ainda mais hostilizado, tendo garrafas de água jogadas em sua direção.

 

No fim das contas, acho essas cenas no Rock in Rio bem representativas no que diz respeito ao que é o Brasil. Um país de grande diversidade cultural, com um povo que não se reconhece, não se aceita e rechaça a sua própria cultura. Antes que alguém questione sobre o fato de tais artistas estarem escalados em dias que, teoricamente, “não seriam para eles”, acho que se alguém não consegue acompanhar uma apresentação de um estilo musical que não é o seu preferido por 40 minutos, sem ter que ir contra até mesmo a integridade física de um artista que está fazendo seu trabalho no palco, ao meu ver o problema está mais com essa pessoa do que com a produção do evento.

Mesmo hoje em dia o Rock in Rio já tenha dias específicos para cada estilo musical, o que eu acho uma pena, pois sou um fã assumido da mistura e diversidade, todo mês de Setembro, a cada dois anos, é a mesma ladainha. O que eu percebo é que se o festival se chamasse “Music in Rio” ou coisa do tipo, era o fim de toda essa chatice, mas ele se chama Rock in Rio e isso não o obriga a ser um festival exclusivo de um gênero só. Se ele nunca foi, não é agora que será, até porque, se o sofisticadíssimo Montreux Jazz Festival já teve em seu line up ninguém menos que o grupo baiano É o Tchan!, o que é o Rock in Rio mesmo?
